Bikinis Just For You

The summer has come for those of us in the northern hemisphere so here is a guide to the perfect swimsuit for you.

If you’re not as embellished in the top:

Image

Try ruffles and fringes and embellishments because they will create the optical illusion of more volume up there.

Go for the obvious padding.

Try the triangle tops because they draw attention to that area.

Horizontal stripes will make it appear as if your are better adorned.

If you’re back end is bigger:

Image

Try for some bottoms with rings to keep them on your hips, hiding that extra you have.

Boy shorts will ward off any potential wedgies and will still show you off.

Try for a deeper neckline to draw attention upwards.

Go for a darker colored bottoms to slim you down and avoid small patterns on the bottom to avoid any extra attention that widen your hips.

If you’re rather busty:

Image

The v-neck will be very flattering, drawing the nice amount of attention chest-ward while elongating your figure and minimising the fullness.

Go for a thick halter neck as it will flatter and secure them.

If you’re well adorned, underwires are your new best friend, do not forget about them

Try one with a wide supportive band. For your busty girls, support is the most important thing!

So that is all for this post. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

See you tomorrow

WHAT! May’s Over!

I can’t believe how FAST this month has past right by. Here are my May Favorites

Image

  • Makeup: Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion: I’ve been wearing this more over this month because it’s drastically easier to take off because it’s not waterproof and it coats my lashes lightly and evenly.
  • Skincare (Face): Origins VitaZing Moisturizer: I’ve honestly never been into wearing things with spf in it because I’m slightly allergic but this one is so good and it just works with me so well. I love the fact that it has a sheer tint release too.
  • Skincare (Body): Happy Hippy Shower Gel: it’s such a refreshing smell and I just love how it works.
  • Hair: Moroccan Oil: there are many reasons why I like this but there are also quite a few against this, but I’ve just been putting it in my ends to make it seem a lot glossier and nicer.
  • Nail: OPI NYC Ballet Collection Care to Danse: I love this lilac color. Even though it is sheer, it don’t go on streaky and is just a really amazing color.
  • Fragrance: Paco Rabanne Black XS: again with this but I got one and a body moisturizer for my bday so I decided to get crackin on it.
  • Fashion: my burgundy jeans: the add some color but it isn’t bright so it’s in keeping with the autumn feel.
  • Accessory: Scarves! It’s getting chilly now so out come the scarves!
  • Book: The Handmaid’s Tale: I’m actually studying this so… I actually haven’t read anything else this month (naughty me).
  • Movie: Not a movie but the Sherlock BBC series. I love it so so SO much. It’s made amazingly well.
  • Youtuber: lilcammo93 it’s nice to find an Australian youtuber
  • Blogger: Extra Petite i love her. 😛

That is all for this month’s favorites.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Make Up Starter Kit

Hey guys. To continue this whole lineage of “10 wardrobe must haves” and “10 accessory must have” and stuff with a makeup post with the same idea. This is basically a list of the most basic elements needed in a makeup kit for any sort of everyday look. I’m basically making this post for those of us who haven’t used makeup before or are just starting a collection and hopefully this list will help you out. Not every element is “necessary” but these are the basic ones. The ones with (*) next to it are completely optional but are nice to have.

Image

When starting off a makeup kit, you might want to go for some more drugstore ones if you just want to try it out yourself but if you’re willing to go and spend some money and hit a good pot the first time round, maybe go to a makeup counter and get the MUA to help you. Personally, I recommend researching the products before getting them. I know how daunting that is but that’s okay. Maybe separate them into chunks to make it less scary.

I know the first time I started my makeup collection was when I got into a performance group that require us to have a whole set of makeup that I needed so I honestly went into the makeup store and bought stuff blindly and to be honest, I was so overwhelmed and so… ignorant of makeup then that whatever the MUA said I was like “yeah okay” but now I realised I probably should have done some research.

Hopefully this will break down the makeup counter for you. And remember, blogs and youtube are you best friend in these situations

Face:

  • Primer (*): this is to keep the makeup on your face. this is more necessary with those of us with rather oily skin (like me) or the makeup might slide right of your face.
  • Foundation: This is for evening out your skin tone and prepare if for whatever goes on top. This is so essential for face makeup however if you have rather flawless skin and you don’t want to go straight for the foundation, try tinted moisturizer.
  • Concealer: this is for covering up blemishes, discoloration and under eye circles. This usually should be well matched to your skin tone.
  • Setting Powder (*): to set your foundation and concealer afterwards.
  • Blush and bronzer: Blush is to add color back to your face and bronzer is what I use to give my face shape (contour) and definition.
  • Translucent Powder (*): powder to help set your makeup throughout the day.

Eyes:

  • Eyeshadow base (*): again to keep makeup on your eyes and may not be 100% necessary for those of us starting off who don’t have oily skin.
  • Basic neutral eye palette: so crucial to any eye look and so easy
  • Black eyeliner: to define the eye
  • Black mascara: to define the lashes
  • Eye lash curler (*): to give your eyes and lashes a lift. this is essential to me but not everyone
  • Eyebrow pencil: to define your eyebrows to frame your face (I’m so naughty with this one)

Lips:

  • Lip balm: moisturize the lips
  • Lip gloss (*): enough said?
  • Lip stick (*): I recommend a neutral pink to nude color to begin with.

That is all for this post. Tell me what your essentials are down below

OOTD: Summer to Fall

Today’s outfit it an easy representation of how to take spring/summer pieces to fall/winter.

Image

Let me break it down for you

Image

A wine burgundy colored circle scarf from an art house label Exception de Mixmind by Ma Ke.  It came with a chunky knit jumper.

Image

A tannish-grey Ralph Lauren cardigan a pattern on the cuff and on the bottom hem.

Image

Jewellery details: watch, 2 bead bracelets and my ring: this is rather standard for me

Image

Anatomy of the outfit: a Max & Co basics navy blue tank top with some rouching in the front area and the skirt.

Image

That is the completed look (not in photo is my black opaque tights and brown leather riding style boots from Max & Co

The skirt is from the H&M “divided” range. I think they had a collection of these going with a shirt and dress in this print too. I adore this dress. It’s so cute and versatile. I bought this in the summer months but because the fabric is a little heavier cotton than your regular summer skirt, it is really easy to wear it in the wintertime. I love the tulip shape of it too as it slims me down. An added bonus is its pockets!

What do you think about this outfit? Tell me in the comments below!

Note: pretty all the items in this outfit are bought at sale time (honestly, not that rich 😛 ) therefore impossible to find them online right now 😛

That is all for this post

Secret To Soft Sexy Skin

See the alliteration there, oh will the english teachers/professors/nerd be so happy about it. But do you know what will make us all happy? If we had soft sexy skin. So many of us think about that and sigh and groan “I’ll never get that” but that’s so wrong (and so negative too tsk tsk :P). All you have to know is one little secret.

Drybrushing.

Image

This amazing invention of god is perfect: it buffs away dead skin leaving the skin much smoother and product absorption just that much better and a closer shave to those ladies who likes to shave their legs. AND as a bonus, as if the amazing effects weren’t amazing enough, it helps to minimise to appearance of cellulite because it increases blood flow. Now, let me just say for a second that you can’t just “get rid of cellulite” just like that (I’m sorry ladies 😦 ) but this will help just make it look better. 🙂

Image

So as to how I use it, well. I do this BEFORE I shower, on DRY skin (ie. DRYbrushing). I start on my lower leg (calf/shin area) and use the brush in upward strokes (toward the heart). I continue up my leg until the top of my leg. Then I go back over it in circular motions to stimulate the blood flow more and obviously I do that for both legs. Then I go onto my arms where I do the same thing: brush strokes towards the heart then circular motions.

Image

Then I move onto my belly and back. On my belly, I work in downwards motions and I genenerally don’t work it in circular motions and I find that this skin is slightly more sensitive. Then I do my back more vigorously (well, technically the same just for a tad longer) because it is hard to reach.  I basically do this everywhere except for on the girls (because that would hurt and the skin there is very sensitive) and definitely NOT on my face (even more sensitive. Besides, I have my Clarisonic for that).

This is basically the most amazing way to achieve that soft skin that we all crave for.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Tell me what you think and what your favorite soft skin strategies are.

See you tomorrow

Pops Of Color: Yellow Time

I thought I might just start a new series called “Pops of Color” where I style certain colored items. Tell me what you think and give some color requests down below!

Image

Yellow is a really hard color to pair with, it’s so vibrant and will just scream for attention but no fear, my favorite pair is here: blue and yellow. It is honestly one of my favorite color combinations and you can try the yellow pants and the blue top or the other way around. Complementary colors right? Always trust the color wheel.

Yellow is also so easily paired with brown and tan (analogous colors with yellow). I personally recommend taking these browns and tans into the accessories. Brown leather sandals and wedges, leopard print flats, cute brown leather bracelet are all amazing pairs with your perfect yellow pants. For more fun colors, turquoise can add just that dash of fun into the situation.

That is all for today’s “Pop’s of Color”. I think I may make this a weekly segment? I don’t know. Tell me what you think.

Fun In the Sun: 7 Steps to Bikini Confidence

For those of us floating in the northern hemisphere, it’s annual break-out-the-bikini time but not all of us are cheering and I don’t blame the ones who moaned. I mean, prancing around in a bathing suit is pretty scary, especially with all those people “watching”, who wouldn’t feel a least a bit self conscious?

But come on, let’s get rid of that. Life’s too short and opportunities only come once right. I used to be so horrified of the bikini, I just always felt like there were people staring, judging. It made me feel uncomfortable, hell, I still feel a bit uncomfortable but I’ve learnt now to cope with it.

I hope you like this post because honestly, its just the 7 things that’s helped me over the years and don’t worry, I’m still getting there but they definitely help. Try to be uncynical 🙂 Please?

Image

  1. The Cliche Is True
No one is perfect. It’s said so so much these days that we just get so skeptical and damn sick of hearing it but it is true. And before you roll your eyes, just think for a second what you think is “perfect”, what is that “ideal”, is it embodied by ONE person or multiple people, is it even a true image. No one is perfect. Don’t stress if your waist isn’t 10 inches from your bust and hips, what does it even matter? What difference does it make? Who will even notice? That brings me to my next point.
  2. The Secret Truth
No one is looking at you. Honestly, the only reason someone would be checking you out is a) they’re a guy and find you attractive and requiring “attention” 😉 or b) it’s another insecure girl sizing herself up. Everyone’s inherently selfish. They’re not worried about whether you fit the mark. They’re worried about themselves. Why are their legs not as long as yours? Why this. Why that. Stop worrying. No one will even know those little “imperfections” you find drastically “problematic”.
  3. Fun!
Just have fun. When you’re at the beach or pool, just have fun! Its only when you’re young you get to do this stuff, enjoy it. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good, who you’ll have a great time with. You’ll forget all those unimportant “imperfections” when you’re having fun!
  4. When Respecting, It’s Yourself First
It’s hard to feel like you look good if you don’t feel good. Feel yourself well and treat yourself well. Filling your belly with guilt food or junk food will just make you feel unhappy and self-conscious. Eat healthy, not just for your body’s sake, but for your health’s. Remember that a balanced diet and exercise is essential. Don’t abolish all guilt foods from your life, you need those little treat right?
  5. Retail Time
Look for the perfect pair of swimmers. And take your time. If you look good, you’ll feel good right?
  6. Steer Away From Them Coveted Bodies
No one is to deny that those Victoria’s Secret Angels are gorgeous but using them as a “goal” is highly unrealistic. Hanging up those pictures of those hot girls with bodies you’ll never get is just a waste. Those celebs have everything at their fingertips and honestly if we were all to look like that we’d be in build with a full styling team and we’ll all end up like Barbie, and THAT would just not be fun. Comparing your body with others is made to be a losing battle. We’re all made to look differently and let me tell you, no matter how many lunges you do, you’ll never have JLo’s bum. And that’s more than okay. So work on your self-esteem. You don’t need to look like that. Everyone is different. And that’s okay. And it’s beautiful.
  7. One Step At a Time
“Just do it.” “Practice makes perfect.” “Fake it ’til you make it.”
Again, the cliches. I remember the first time I wore a bikini, and I’m not gonna lie, it was horrible. I felt awkward and overexposed. And even my bubble wrapped self-esteem was taking a bit of a hit. I mean, you might as well be naked. But I forced myself. And guess what? I noticed that everyone was doing their own thing. Yeah, people look, but it wasn’t like they were gagging at the sight of me. No one cared – people were getting on with their lives and didn’t have time to stare and criticize little me in my bikini. And now, I feel almost comfortable in a bikini.
And even if you’re not comforable try a one piece, than a tankini and then a bikini. It’s normal to be uncomforable!

So that is the end of my bikini story. What is yours? Tell me in the comments below

I hope you enjoyed this post and see you tomorrow. 🙂

LUSH Review: 9 to 5 Cleanser

I went to Lush (again) over the weekend and I was given a tub of 9 to 5 cleanser to try and it’s pretty clear to all of us how much I love lush, so I decided to try it.

Image

I’ve used it this whole week and here is my honest opinion about this product. I have not changed any other factors in my skin care routine.

Honestly speaking, I’ve noticed absolutely no change in my skin at all. It’s not particularly bad (no active breakouts right now, SCORE!) but I’m not adoring and raving about this product.

I’m used to Origin’s Checks and Balance cleanser which is just absolutely amazing and lathers like a charm but this one feels as if you’re not even washing your face. It doesn’t lather at all but it just sits on your skin. So when I first used it, I was thoroughly unimpressed.

However, when I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off, my skin actually felt quite nice. I was shocked and a little delighted. So I kept using it. That’s where the downfall lies. This product just isn’t strong enough. It doesn’t create a noticeable effect on my skin.

I know that one week may not be long enough to sense the real “effects” of this product but I know that for me, I would not be purchasing this product in full size. I’ve used a bare few of Lush’s skincare produces for the face and I’ve noticed the general trend that they’re just very weak.

I’m by no means saying that this is an awful product because that would not be true either. I just feel as if it performs the minimal effect on my face and the full size being $AUS 16, I just don’t think it’s worth it for me. People who prefer extremely gentle products like this may enjoy it, but personally, I still prefer my Checks and Balances.

If you’re ever used it and you’ve liked it, please tell me in the comments below.

This post expresses my honest opinion of a product that I sampled for free. I am not paid to do this post but simple feel as if I want to express my feelings about this product.

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow.
