Advice That I Never Take

You know how they say “drink water”. Yeah, well, I’m not very good at that at all. I drink no water, pretty much. It’s awful. I don’t even know how to motivate myself to drink water. I really don’t. Sigh. I’ll be working on this.

Image

8 Reasons to Drink Water:

  1. Weight loss
  2. Healthy heart
  3. More energy
  4. Headache cure
  5. Healthy skin
  6. Helps fix digestive problems
  7. Cleansing
  8. Better exercise results

The Advice: Drink half your weight (lb) in liquid ounces.

i.e. if you weight 120 lb, drink 60 ounces of water. 🙂

How to Follow This Advice:

  • Set a water routine: one cup when you wake up, one cup with each meal, one cup in between all meals, one cup before bed [if you’re exercising, one cup before exercise and one cup after]: note that you should divide ounces by how many times you’ll drink to figure out your cup [doesn’t have to be exact at all though!]
  • Carry a bottle around with you! Best reminder right?
  • Set yourself reminders either on your phone or on your computer.

I will be reporting back on this mission.

What is a piece of advice that you never follow? Tell me below.

Tag Time: 15 Weird Questions Tag

This was actually a request from a friend of mine (yayayayayay (that was me being excited to get a request)) and the main purpose of me doing this post is to display how strange I am, so here we go.

OH! and before I forget, PLEASE leave in the comments below any request of anything that you’d like to see me do a review/tutorial/etc on 🙂

#1. What’s a nickname only your family calls you?
Hahaha. Well actually, my family doesn’t really have an English nickname for me but in chinese, my nickname that I’ve had ever since I was a baby was the chinese for “soft” because I was really soft and squishy when I was a baby and it’s like a standard endearing name so my family basically all call me that.

#2. What’s a weird habit of yours?
I touch my neck and my necklace, a lot, when I talk. I used to tug on my hair. OH! I get distracted so easily, so when I’m talking, I’ll literally stop in the middle of my sentence and then talk about something else and when I finish talking about that, I then literally finish that original sentence EXACTLY where I left off.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias?
I’m horrified of going on Ferris Wheels. Well actually, the truth is, I’m not always scared but 3 out of 5 times, I will absolutely FREAK THE HELL OUT when I’m on one.

(Well, actually, the truth is I have quite bad anxiety and it’s usually rather under control but I do get into situations where I’m just not able to control it sufficiently and I just go into from mild to serious panic attacks and I guess being in a tiny contraption, floating in air just seriously triggers those panic attacks.)

#4. What’s a song you secretly LOVE to blast and belt out when you’re alone?
Um, all songs? I love the belt out so many. OH! A great one would be Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne.

#5. What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?
Flakey people, I just HATE flakey people, and with that comes the lateness peeve. I get so so SO annoyed at late people. I don’t mind if you’re late once or twice for like a few minutes but once it gets too much, NO. I get so so frustrated. I hate it when people make really loud noises when they eat. That just sends shivers up my back. And thirdly, I hate people who just don’t understand limits. Like there is so far you can go with a joke or something. Don’t go past that.

#6. What’s one of your nervous habits?
I talk. A lot. My mouth goes faster than I can think when I’m nervous. Like in an interview where I’m really nervous, I just talk non stop. And the really funny thing is, I come off as really confident when I’m really now.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
Always the right side.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal and it’s name?
Honestly speaking, I don’t give my stuffed animal names. I’ve never had. I have TONS of stuffed animals, all of which don’t have names. And I honestly don’t remember my first one.

#9. What’s the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks?
Usually hot chocolate if I’m in a rush and just grabbing something. But other than that, I just choose something that looks interesting because I’m very adventurous when it comes to drinks.

#10. What’s the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?
This is a hard one generally because I don’t preach many “beauty rules” and the ones I do preach, I follow otherwise that would make me rather hypocritical wouldn’t it? Um, I guess something to do with makeup because I’m not that vigilant with makeup.

#11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Towards the water if I’m not washing my hair and away from the water if I am. I guess I’m a weird one.

#12. Do you have any ‘weird’ body ‘skills’?
Oh I don’t know. My joints hyperextend? I actually don’t have any body skills haha.

#13. What’s your favorite ‘comfort food’/food thats ‘bad’ but you love to eat it anyways?
Ice cream. Always the ice-cream. And home made cookies. But my mom doesn’t make them and she doesn’t let me cook in her kitchen so it’s not really an issue.

#14. What’s a phrase or exclamation you always say?
I say “haha” so much when I type but honestly, it’s mainly because I laugh so much in real life. I say “i’m crazy” a lot. I say “shizzle” a lot too. I do swear quite a bit but I’ve gotten a lot better now. I just say stuff like shizzle, f*ck, b*tchass, etc. Nothing really rude like the c word, or the other worse f and d and g words because those are really rude. They’re not even swearing, they’re just unnecessary.

#15. Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
I wear my underwear (or panties as people call them), a t-shirt and a crop top/tube bra underneath it.

That is it for this tag. I tag all of you who want to do it to do it.

Thanks for hanging out with me, doing this tag. I had fun. See you tomorrow.

IT’S CLEARING UP!!!: My Skincare Routine

Previous Posts mentioned (go read them 😀 ):

LUSH Body-(Skin)-care Products Review
My Skin Story

Image

The much a-waited post has finally arrived. Ever since doing my hair and body care things, I’ve wanted to do this post but just never had the chance to because I wanted to make sure that this routine works before posting about it. I’m just going to write up what products I use, in which order, how I use them and stuff like that. They’ll be a mini-review on each product but if you want me to do a full review on a product or a few products, please type it in the comments section below. 🙂

So you may remember my post from a few days ago about the problems I’ve been having with my skin ever since I was around 10, so that’s a really long time. But my skin is now past the worst stage of it but if it gets really irritated or if it’s that time of the month, my skin just explodes. Last week, my skin was having a rather unhappy reaction to something (I have no idea what) and I was all broken out all over my forehead and it was just really really awful but I feel as if using these products seriously seriously helped because just a few days later, my skin is almost completely clear again. YAY!

If you haven’t read that post mentioned above, go read it. Or just keep in mind when reading this post that I have Combination to Oily skin that is very acne-prone.

Morning Routine

1) A light cleanser: The Liquid Facial Soap in the Clinique 3-Step Kit for Skin Type 3 or 4
I only use this cleanser in the AM and I’ve been using this cleanser for almost 3/4 of a year now and I’m still loving it. It’s just a really light cleanser for the morning because I don’t like to have really strong chemicals or anything like that on my skin that early in the day. However, I did try using a very light (non-chemical) exfoliate instead in the mornings but it just got so so tedious because I’m usually in a rush in the morning and I don’t want to spend that time using an exfoliate. So I just get a pump of this onto (CLEAN!!!) hands and rub it in circular motions on my wet face. It will foam up a little and after doing that for maybe a minute, I just wash it off. I try and avoid using towels because they can carry bacteria (I know, ew).

2) Toner: Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion
This is a rather new edition but it’s been working wonders. I use this AM and PM.Just shake so that the sediment “acne-medicine” is mixed into the solution and I just get this onto a cotton pad and sweep it all over my face. I’ve actually not come across a toner as good as this one and this is my mother’s “skin care secret” so follow it. I seriously recommend this. 🙂

3) Moisturizer: Origins VitaZing
Moisturizer acts as a barriers between outside grossness and your skin (pores). This moisturizer is amazing. Like actually. It also has SPF 15 which is why I put it on in the AM only. I put this all over my face except for my eye area and where I have active blemishes or hyperpigmentation.

4) Others: Sisley Cosmetics Phyto-Blanc Intensive Lightening Lotion and LUSH Grease Lightning
Before you freak out, my mother is a very very loyal customer of Sisley so we basically get an endless supply of free samples so I don’t actually have the full size of the Intensive Lightening Lotion but I just use the samples. I’m not entirely sure if I like it enough to ever buy the full sample but at least I know that something is on my face fighting the hyper-pigmentation. (I put it on the spots where I have hyper-pigmentation). And then the LUSH Grease Lightning is great to put on my active breakouts. It’s a lot lighter than the Spot Remover by Origins but still does a really great job. I would definitely recommend this. Both these products I use AM and PM.

5) Eye cream: Origins GinZing
I’ve never really needed an eye-cream because I don’t have a problem with bags or puffiness (well, it can’t be solved with an eye-cream) but the lady at the store (and FleurDeForce on youtube) said that this is a good eyecream so I just use it in the AM to reduce puffiness in the mornings and to awaken my eyes.

That is all for the morning (then I apply make-up)

Evening Routine:

1) Makeup Remover: MAC Makeup Removers and Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water
I have a whole range of MAC Makeup Removers and I love them all. I usually use the remover wipes (I know, some people hate wipes but these are actually really amazing) especially if I have a lot of makeup on because I always feel as if it doesn’t completely come off otherwise. The Sephora one, I use that just for taking off eye-makeup because it’s gentle.

2) Cleanser and Clarisonic: Origins Checks and Balances
Now I’ve recently invested in a Clarisonic (a review will be up if not tomorrow than the day after) and I absolutely love it. I use it in the shower (because I shower at night) and I just put a ring of the Origins cleanser (which I just adore because it works beautifully) and I use it on my face for a minutes. I have a clarisonic Mia so it actually times 1 minute for me. (Obviously these 2 steps are just PM).

3) Toner: Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion
Same as the AM above.

4) Moisturizer: SkinFoods Lettuce and Cucumer Jelly Cream
I’m devastated that I’ve almost finished the tub but this is AMAZING. It’s so refreshing and hydrating. Uh, I love it. Same with the moisturizer in the AM, I put it everywhere but my eyes, where I have hyper-pigmentation and active breakouts.

5) Others: Sisley Cosmetics Phyto-Blanc Intensive Lightening Lotion and LUSH Grease Lightning
These are all the same as the AM as well. 🙂

I also moisturize my lips with either LUSH Honey Trap Lip Balm or Burt’s Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter, but of which smell absolutely AMAZING and work wonders to make my lips… sexy… HAHA!

So anyways, that is it! Two five-step routines for my skincare. My skin is actually feeling and looking so healthy right now so I feel as if these routines are working really well for me. Now, that is a point of emphasis FOR ME. All skin is different so what may work or me, may not work for you. So keep that in mind. 🙂

Oh and before I forget: EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I:

– Do a mask: Usually one from Origins. If I’m really badly broken out, instead of doing the usual Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer, I use Origin’s Clear Improvement, Out of Trouble and Drink Up (in that order)

– I use LUSH Sweet Lips lip scrub

[Disclaimer: All these products were bought by me (well apart from the Sisley samples that were NOT given to me for review purposes) and this is completely my honest opinion.]

That is all from me today.

My Insta-Log and OOTD

So this is just a post to talk about what I’ve been up to lately and some little fashion things I guess. I exhausted my posting ability and energy a little with that SUPER long post yesterday and I’ve been so busy lately, which is weird because this should be “break-time”. So I hope you enjoy this slightly more “personalized” or me-blog (mlog?) and I probably will be doing some of these now and then.

So, here is my instagram log for saturday, sunday, monday and today.

Image

Let me break it down for you:

Photo #1: (Saturday) These are the mint nails I was talking about! They turned up on my iPhone camera slightly more pastel than they are in real life but meh. This photo makes it look so much prettier!

Photo #2: OOTD for Sunday! I was sporting a uber-long tank top from H&M with a tiger on it that I turned into a shortish dress (it was a lovely day) and over that I had on a sweater with a “net-y” or mesh type of feel in a really nice muted gold type of color. Because its autumn right now where I am, I decided to wear my burgundy/wine-red cardigan. (I adore that color combo!) This cardigan is so cute because it has a waterfall shape down the front and a cropped back with a “stitched-in waist”. I love it so much. On my feet (not in this picture), I have on a pair of brown leather boots with a furry-sheep skin type thing on the inside of the bootshaft that can be turned out or left like that. Accessories wise, I had on my really lovely faux-antique (its almost antique now lol. I got it 10 years ago for Christmas!!!) locket with mini mini pearls and rubies and it’s just so delicate and gorgeous, and I also wore my mom’s amber ring and my silver pentacle ring. I personally loved that outfit and quite a few people said I looked nice which made me really happy haha.

Photo #3: (Tuesday) I actually put this in a funny order when I made this, oops. This is a photo I took in Bar Coluzzi in Darlinghurst, Sydney. It was absolutely adorable. I really wanted to write a review on it because I just loved it so much. It’s a really well hidden cafe on Victoria St and once you go in, you can just feel the history. It’s 50 years old and founded by a former Australian middle weight champion (Luigi Coluzzi) and you can just see the wall covered in photos of him, signatures by famous people and it’s just amazing. The staff are extremely friendly and full of humour. I had a steak sandwich and Iced Chocolate which was just DELICIOUS but the downside was it was $18 which is erring of the expensive side. Overall, I think that if you get the chance, you must visit it! It’s so amazing and you might just spot some celebs who are always lurking there.

Photo #4: (Monday) Lemon, Lime and Bitters! Always a treat! Amazing dinner at Terrazza Cafe Restaurant Pizzeria. $45 for 2 people for dinner is quite okay I think. I was stuffed after the drink, the entree and the pizza (which is one of the best pizza’s I’ve had, not including the one I had in Naples, Italy because what can compare to that!). Really great atmosphere and the food is even better. The staff were really nice too so, pretty good experience. I would definitely go back!

Okay so it’s OOTD time!

Because, as I said in my previous post, my camera is currently taking a holiday from working and I’m lacking a mirror to take the photo in, I can just use Polyvore to give you a general idea.

Image

I was wearing a shockingly pink silk blouse today by Zimmermann (which I got on a very LARGE sale percent may I mention) and I honestly rarely wear pink but this blouse just drew my attention immediately. I mean the color is that gorgeous bright flamingo/coral pink. Oh! my god! I love it! But every time I looked down or caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror or a window or something, I would like get a startle, every time. I was like “woah, that’s so pink!” But I enjoyed every minute of wearing it. The fabric is so so comfortable and just amazing quality.

I tucked the front into my Levi’s dark wash skinnys (and left the back out like I seem to always do) to give a slightly less casual look and also because it’s a little long, if I leave it out on the front, it kinda makes me look shorter and isn’t as flattering.

On my feet, I had the Dr Martens that I got for Christmas last year. I’ve never been the biggest fan of “combat boots”. I don’t know, they just never look that great on me because I have tiny feet which I’m uber self conscious about because sometimes I get outrageously rude people who ask me how I “balance” and “manage to stand” on them because proportionally they’re too small for my height. Anyways, not the point! I always think they look strange on me but my mother says they look good on me so whatever, I trust her. I actually have the Triumph 1460 style that I love because of the “biker”-like heritage that seems to come with it.

On top, because it’s autumn here, I have my favourite and best investment of my life, my SABA black leather jacket. I bought this maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and I’ve just gotten SO SO SO much wear out of it. It’s one of the only jackets I wear in autumn and winter. I just adore it. It’s the softest thing in the entire world. (Oh yeah, it’s real leather btw. Yes I know, have a fit if you like. I do guilt trip over it but you know, I try not kill animals for my own benefit *guilty sad face*).  I adore the little epaulets on the shoulders and the across body type, diagonal zipper thing going on. The only annoying thing is that the collar flaps always flap closed when the zipper or buttons aren’t done up (so annoying! 😡 ) If you want an image, just type into Google images Bardot Leather Jacket and it looks basically like the first one even though its SABA.

In my hand, resides my most precious handbag. I love this bag to bits. It is absolutely amazing, beyond words. [Disclaimer] I dreamed about this bag (well, not this particular bag, but similar ones) for the longest time and my dad (who is just the most amazing and hard working man I’ve ever known) and I reached an “agreement” that he’d get me my birthday present a little early because he won’t be here to celebrate with me. And seriously, I appreciate him so much and I know how lucky I am to have him as my father. And I’d love him just as much with or without the stuff he gets me as treats. I never want people to think that I’m rottenly spoilt or ridiculously filthy rich because I’m not. With the money that my dad earns, we just have enough spending “allowance” for my mom and I to be treated to lovely things and I can’t help what some people think, and I’m sorry that they feel that way but you know, I can’t change that. Just please don’t judge me for it. So the actual bag is a Vitello Lux Gather Tote by Miu Miu and I know in this picture, it’s a light beige but in real life, mine is actually a lovely nude pink. It was so funny because I got so so upset when a little bit of rain got on it the other day. It was a moment of utter tragicness I’m not joking. And my friend was totally laughing me.

Anyways, so that brings me to the end of my Insta-log and OOTD. I know this was overly detailed and totally long, I just didn’t want you guys to feel as if I half-assed this post by slacking off and posting 2 pictures and 100 words.

So please please: Like, Comment, Follow

I hope you liked this post and see you tomorrow.
