HAULER: Bumble and Bumble… Bee?

HEY GUYS! Haha. Today, I went out shopping because it’s thursday and we, Australians, all know what that means: late night shopping. So I went out and grabbed some stuff.

Mainly because I’ve been pretty much cooped up at home for like the past 2 months, I’ve completely used up ALL my LUSH hair care products so I figured it was about time I went out and bought something new and even though I’m still a LUSHmaniac (don’t worry), I like myself some new products so here is what I got from Bumble and Bumble. Hang out for some reviews coming up over the next few weeks!!!

Aveda Salon Experience

Hey guys!! I’m not dead. I’m so sorry about the hiatus but I just got really really busy with the pile of work that I had to do and I was just really tired all the time and I decided that I needed a time off from my everyday hobby of blogging. But I am back now with a post!!! Haha. So today, I finally went to get my bangs done at the Aveda Salon (Luc Espace at Chatswood Chase in Sydney) and here’s how I felt about it.Β

Image

I walked in and was immediately impressed with the layout and decor of the salon. With the warm colors and the wood furnishing (and scent), I could definitely feel the signature natural sensory vibe that Aveda carries. Not to mention the service! I was immediately greeted by their signature tea, water and magazines. My stylist, Lisa, came up to me with in a few seconds and we talked about how I wanted my hair, and immediately she understood. I was definitely impressed by how she then stepped me through the steps of cutting my hair (exactly how much she would take off and where and walked me through how she’d cut my bangs).

Image

I was then directed my a young man to the basins. Along the way he asked if I’d like a neck and shoulder massage, complimentary with every visit, and of course I said yes. He asked me to take 3 deep breaths, smelling in the natural essence he was holding and close my eyes. I’d definitely say that it was a relaxing experience. He then did his little massage and off we went with the hair wash. Of course, he only used Aveda products which I was really happy about because I know their mantras and mottos and I was delighted to try their products (amazing, my hair feels so soft and smooth). The only thing I hate about salons sometimes is the amount of products with harmful chemicals in them that they use, products that I would never ever use myself because of my love for natural products.

Image

So, away from the basin we went, and he combed my hair. AND THANK THE LORD he knows how to comb hair. He didn’t rip out my whole head like every other salon I’ve been to did. And then we go to the haircut. She snipped away, reminding me first to uncross my legs to maintain balance in the haircut (something that hairdressers never did before but I was thankful and delighted that she did). And can I say, when I said an inch (ONE inch) she ACTUALLY just cut off ONE ince, no more!!! That seriously impressed me. But the thing that put the icing on the cake was that she waited til the end to cut my fringe, to make sure I hadn’t changed my mind.

This whole package I was thoroughly pleased with. I’m surprised, and delighted, to say that I can not think of ONE bad thing to say about my experience, which is definitely a first. However, I will tell you that although my fringe looks good, it feels hella strange.

Hairstyle Question: Straight Fringe/Bangs

Image

So for the longest time (literally years upon years upon years), I’ve had a side-swept fringe (and for the sake of comprehension, I will be calling them bangs from now on because that’s what they are). But I’ve been considering a hairstyle change inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen.

So many people are going for these!

WHAT! May’s Over!

I can’t believe how FAST this month has past right by. Here are my May Favorites

Image

  • Makeup: Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion: I’ve been wearing this more over this month because it’s drastically easier to take off because it’s not waterproof and it coats my lashes lightly and evenly.
  • Skincare (Face): Origins VitaZing Moisturizer: I’ve honestly never been into wearing things with spf in it because I’m slightly allergic but this one is so good and it just works with me so well. I love the fact that it has a sheer tint release too.
  • Skincare (Body): Happy Hippy Shower Gel: it’s such a refreshing smell and I just love how it works.
  • Hair: Moroccan Oil: there are many reasons why I like this but there are also quite a few against this, but I’ve just been putting it in my ends to make it seem a lot glossier and nicer.
  • Nail: OPI NYC Ballet Collection Care to Danse: I love this lilac color. Even though it is sheer, it don’t go on streaky and is just a really amazing color.
  • Fragrance: Paco Rabanne Black XS: again with this but I got one and a body moisturizer for my bday so I decided to get crackin on it.
  • Fashion: my burgundy jeans: the add some color but it isn’t bright so it’s in keeping with the autumn feel.
  • Accessory:Β Scarves! It’s getting chilly now so out come the scarves!
  • Book: The Handmaid’s Tale: I’m actually studying this so… I actually haven’t read anything else this month (naughty me).
  • Movie: Not a movie but the Sherlock BBC series. I love it so so SO much. It’s made amazingly well.
  • Youtuber: lilcammo93Β it’s nice to find an Australian youtuber
  • Blogger: Extra PetiteΒ i love her. πŸ˜›

That is all for this month’s favorites.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of…. MAY!: April Favorites

AHHH! I can’t believe it’s May already and time for another Monthly Favorite! I’m excited though because that means it’s almost my birthday *little celebratory dance* Anyways. So you know how I have a very structured monthly favorites post? Well I want you to tell me in the comments what you think of this layout in comparison to just chatting about what I liked.

Disclaimer: None of these photos that follow are mine.

Make-up

Image

This month, I’ve just been absolutely addicted to my MAC Bare Study Paint pot. It’s just something I sweep over my lid because it’s just so easy! The color is just so natural but the shimmer in it makes my eyes just look more awake. I adore this shadow.

Skin Care (Face)

Image

I have to say, apart from my Clarisonic which is just amazing, the actual skin care PRODUCT that I’ve been using every day and that has just worked so so well for me is the Origins Checks and Balances Foaming Cleanser. It’s so so gentle and together with my Clarisonic, helps to make my skin just that much better.

Skin Care (Body)

Image

I’ve been using my Body Shop Cactus Brush with my LUSH products pretty much every single day this month (like ever other month) and even though this is not a new edition, I’ve just been noticing how good it is now because as we go into the colder months, my skin just gets so so dry and gross but this is just buffing away that surface layer of dead skin that tends to look horrible in the colder months.

Hair Care

Image

LUSH’s Conditioner called Retread. I didn’t even have to think about that one. My hair’s just been not behaving that the ends become really really frizzy and dry and split ends emerge non-stop (damn the cold weather) so this has just been so so amazing. I literally bought this around the beginning of last month and I’m halfway through it and my small LUSH American Cream Conditioner.

Nail

Image

I recently got 3 new OPI polishes and I’ve had on Penny for Your Thoughts for the past week or so and I’ve been loving it because although it a light coppery-orange color, it looks quite nice and natural on the nails (obviously not that natural but you know what I mean). There are some pink reflects in it that makes it just that little bit prettier. Not bad OPI, not bad at all.

Fragrance

Image

I’ve been wearing my Victoria’s Secret Body Mist in Coconut Passion and I honestly cannot explain how much I love this scent. Oh. My. GOD it smells amazing. Only annoying thing is that it’s a body mist so therefore doesn’t last long at all. But if I wanted anything for my birthday, it would be a Victoria’s Secret fragrance. Eternal love! I honestly had the hardest time deciding which body mist to get.

Fashion

Image

I got this really amazing blazer that just looks amazing because you must know that my style can get rather preppy so I just ADORE blazers, I just honestly have so so many. But I just love this blazer so much and it’s just become my favorite that quickly. (Note: mine is slightly different from theΒ one in this picture).

Accessory

Image

Definitely my Miu Miu handbag. Hands down. I just love it so so much and I use it to go out shopping or if I have a class, every single time. (Note: Mine is in a pale nude pink color rather than this color).

Book

I read Fight Club this month, I’ve never watched the movie but I thoroughly enjoyed the book, yeah πŸ™‚

Movie

Haven’t watched any :S

Youtuber

Other than the usual suspects, I’ve been really really loving Evelina Barry from Evelinicutza (a new discovery this month).

Blogger

I absolutely adore leblogdebetty. Her posts are always really great, I love her fashion sense and even better is that she look so much like my friend Julia.

Thank you so much for reading. Tell me down below in the comments what your favorite things of April were.

Disclaimer: All of these products mentioned were bought by me with my own money. This is not a sponsored post and all opinions expressed in this post is honest and my own.

I’ll see you tomorrow

COTTON CANDY: Pink Ombre Glitter Nail Tutorial

Image

Hi Guys!!! So today I will be doing a tutorial on the nail look above. All of the nail polishes I’ll be using is from OPI, but you can use any nail polishes that you like πŸ™‚ You can also do this with any colour in the same ombre glitter way, I just chose to do it in pink because I had the resources available. Along the way, I’ll also but a mini-review of the nail polishes that I used. Also, please request anything you’d like to see in the comments section below.

I’ve seen so many tutorials online, and all of them seem to use glitter powder or something which I think is quite unaccessible and I feel this way is a lot easier and better haha.

Image

Nail Polishes from Left to Right:

OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, Suze and the Lifeguard, Princess Rule, Teenage Dream, RapiDry Top Coat

Image

I ALWAYS ALWAYS apply a base coat to protect my nails from the chemicals in the coloured polishes more and this one is my favourite. So I apply one coat of it onto all of my nails and let that dry before moving on. (As you can see, I’ve used this Base Coat so so much and there’s only like 1/3 left. πŸ˜₯ )

Image

Okay, so this is my plain pink, that doesn’t really have shimmer/glitter in it. It’s calles Suze and the Lifeguard and I remember when I bought it a year ago, it was absolutely amazing, the colour was just so natural and I absolutely loved it. But then, I kinda just didn’t wear it for a while and now I really dont like this colour but there’s so much left so I dont want to waste it becayse OPI is quite expensive.

So anyways, I apply one layer of this onto my nails and I know its uneven and streaky but that’s okay. (You can apply two layers if you want, but I don’t like my nails to be really thick so I don’t tend to). But this is the perfect pink base because it’s a very strong true pastel pink colour.

Tip: Let each layer dry completely before painting the next to avoid “gooeyness” after you’re done and to avoid smudging.

Image

This is Princess Rule and this colour is amazing, especially on top of the Suze and the Lifeguard one. It has tiny holographic/silvery glitter in it. It’s such a gorgeous colour and the colour payoff is amazing. Haha.

So I paint one layer of it over the top of Suze and the Lifeguard and it seems to fill in the steaks and gaps of the first layer really well.

Image

This is Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry Collection. And I absolutely love this polish. It’s really chunky and the glitter just looks really good on the nail because of its different glitter particle sizes.

This is the “hardest” part. You basically layer on on top of the first two layers so that more of the glitter is concentrated to the end. So in essence you do only half a nail and you just gradient the glitter to create the ombre effect.

Image

You have to wait for the Teenage Dream to completely dry before you progress to this step. This is the OPI RapiDry TopCoat and I love it because I previously am way too impatient and not-bothered to wait for the traditional Top Coat to dry which meant I always messed it up so this RapiDry is SO SO SO much better. However, a disadvantage is that it’s thinner and doesn’t give the shine.

Apply 2 coats of this Top Coat, but if you’re using the regular one, just apply one coat.

THIS IS THE FINISHED PRODUCT.

My Hair-care Routine

Okay, before I start, I just wanted to say to everyone, thank you for following and liking my posts. You have no idea how much it means to me. I’m also getting to the middle of a small list of posts to make so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE request something, anything, you would like to see in the comments section below. Thank you!

Okay. This is not going to be an uber-long post but, here it is. My hair-care routine. I’ve found this to be working on my hair really really well, but keep in mind that everyone has different hair and different situations. Because my hair isn’t an issue to style (ie. I rarely curl/straighten/blowdry it), and 100% natural (I haven’t permed or dyed it or anything), it may be very very different from your hair process.

So what I do is, I have three different “sets” of Shampoo/Conditioners going at the same time. I wash my hair every second day (so Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday etc etc) and sometimes I may stuff up that routine but I generally wash my hair 3 times a week (this is were the 3 sets come in).Β

My 3 Sets:

– BIG (Shampoo) by Lush and AMERICAN CREAM (Conditioner) by Lush

– REHAB (Shampoo) by Lush and RETREAD (Conditioner) by Lush

– Cocao Butter (Shampoo and Conditioner Set) by Organix

(Here: You can see my reviews on the Lush Products)

So what I do is, I wash my hair on Monday with the first set, and then Wednesday with the second and Friday with the third and then back on the cycle.

So when I’m actually washing my hair, I spend about 3-5 minutes just scrubbing away at my hair with the shampoo lathering up a thick cloud over my hair. I wash it out and then apply conditioner to my hair up to my earlobes. This prevents my from worsening my already oily root issue (that has gotten better, mind you). I leave it in for a while as I do some other stuff (e.g. shave, or wash my face) and then I wash it off. Haha. I don’t put any products in my hair afterwards and I don’t actually do anything to my hair. I just let it airdry and live about in its natural form. You can add whatever you like after that I guess.

Note: I used to was my hair everyday because it was “oily” but I realised how bad this was with my hair. I highly recommend weaning yourself from washing your hair everyday if you do. I know the first little while feels absolutely disgusting but you’ll come through it for the better. Make sure you find products that won’t just strip your hair and leave it… in a very bad position. So reach for more natural products like Organix or LUSH.

LUSH, My New Saviour! (SKIN & BODY :O)

I have recently introduced myself to Lush and I’m absolutely loving it. I have never before found a brand that works so well on my skin and hair.

(Here is my review of the hair products that I made yesterday)

As I promised, here is the second instalment of the Lush review. This one is for the body products that I’ve brought and used. There are one that I have not yet used (Buffy the body butter: this is because I’m waiting to finish my Aqua Mirabilis one). There are 2 more that I have chosen not to review, mainly because I feel rather indifferent towards them and I think it’d be boring for you to read them: they are Flying Fox (shower gel) and Ambrosia (shaving cream).

Okay. So today I will be reviewing 4 shower or body/skin type products from Lush that I’ve been using. My skin is usually really dry so most of the products that I use must be moisturising otherwise my skin just looks like a desert in drought, and believe me, it’s not a very good look. So keep this in mind if you don’t have a problem with dry skin. I also have an issue with dead skin (I know, ew, gross) as a result of the dry skin so I love to use exfoliants (physical ones, not chemical) on my skin. With most of these products mentioned (save the Ro’s Argan one), I’ll use The Body Shop’sΒ Cactus BrushΒ to make sure I’m actually getting in there and exfoliating away everything. Right now, I can definitely see a difference. My skin looks more healthy and there is a glow to it, and I can positively say I am adoring this new body routine. πŸ™‚

Aqua Mirabilis (Body Butter)

Image

This body butter is absolutely amazing. It has a nice warm smell to it that doesn’t linger for very long but it performs the desired effect. The chunky nature of it is great for the gentle exfoliation of the skin and replenish it with moisture at the same time. This is the perfect combination! This is one of my favourite products from Lush that I have. I keep it in a body butter tin that I got at lush for… not very very much… However I think it was good value because that box prevents it from melting away in the steam as I do not use this everyday. I’ve read reviews that says it doesn’t last but I’ve been using it for 5 showers now and it’s still going (I think I have a third left). You just have to make sure not the scrub yourself with it. What I do is, I layer a bit on myself and then rub it in with my hands. The only thing that’s slightly strange and… gross… is that if I don’t use it for a while and keep it in its box, it tends to start forming some moulds, but its not a dangerous kind and I just get rid of it before using. This may also have something to do with the fact that I’ve had the square for around a month now.

It’s Raining Men (Shower Gel)

Image

I find that there is nothing amazingly special about this shower gel other than the absolutely amazing smell. It makes me want to just melt away and die. It’s so amazing! But, as I said, other than the smell, its not that hype. However, I have heard that honey is a naturalΒ antisepticΒ so I guess it performs its job there and I just can’t tell.

Rub Rub Rub (Body Scrub)

Image

I bought the small tub and I’ve used this product once or twice. I love the refreshing nature of it and the clean type of scents and the clean vibe it gives me. I adore the small little particles that are in it. They work away to exfoliate the skin effectively but gently. Its the sea salt in it that works so well! It leaves the skin smooth and with a fresh scent. It’s definitely better by the very fact that it doesn’t leave the skin irritated and scratchy. So 3 thumbs up for this one. One thing that I found is that mine mostly melted away before I really got to it and this made me really sad. But then again, my showers get really really hot. Haha.

This is like the body/Skin equivalent of Big (shampoo) (which I reviewed yesterday).

Ro’s Argan (Body Conditioner)

Image

This is another highlight. This new product is absolutely amazing for people like me who have a dry skin issue. It is just like a hair conditioner in that it absolutelyΒ moisturizes my skinΒ like a queen! It leaves a oily-ish residue that some may find annoying but I love because I know that it’s replenishing my skin. I would recommend not using it if you like to have a morning shower because it takes a while to soak in, but if you have a shower at night, the residue will be gone by morning.Β DespiteΒ the residue issue, I will definitely recommend this.

Note: These are all my real opinions hahaΒ :)Β And keep in mind all our skin is different so what may work for me and what I love may not work for you and what I may love, you may not. πŸ™‚

LUSH, My New Saviour! (Hair :O)

I have recently introduced myself to Lush and I’m absolutely loving it. I have never before found a brand that works so well on my skin and hair.

(Note:Β This is the first half of my lush review. The second half will be arriving tomorrow and will be focusing on the body products.)

Today I will be giving a review on the 4 Lush Hair Products that I use. Before I started using LUSH my hair was very dry at the ends, didn’t look very luminous and just hung limply. I had a big problem with controlling oil near the roots. However, ever since I’ve started using LUSH I’ve noticed (well, not just me) that my hair is looking a lot more… well… lush. It no longer seems totally dead, it lasts longer between washes, and it smells a lot better. πŸ™‚

Various hauls have brought me to a stage of complete LUSH-ing! So here are the products I use and what I think of them:

Big (Shampoo)

Image

This shampoo is absolutely AMAZING! Its ability to remove the oil from my roots and still keep it shiny and lustrous is just wonderful. I have such problem hair but this product deals with it so well. The only annoying thing is the HUGE salt crystals fall out from your hair and it gets annoying but that isn’t a big deal. However (because I love my showers really hot), it melts a little inside the tub but that’s not a big issue either. It does have a slightly strange smell but thats just result of the seaweed elements and its not a bad strange smell at all.

American Cream (conditioner)

Image

I don’t really know if it’s the “extra added strength conditioner” as it advertises itself to be but I can definitely say that I’m in love with the Lush Conditioners. They don’t leave a layer of oil in my hair afterwards at all and make my hair look so shiny and smooth. My mother even commented on how they’re working on my hair so that’s just proof of how amazing they are. Haha! This particular releases an amazing smell when I’m washing it off with hot water but the smell doesn’t last very long. However, this is still a very good conditioner.

Rehab (Shampoo)

Image

This is definitely not my favourite as I don’t really feel like there is any physical change in my hair (ie in terms of strength and shine but it does leave my hair feeling very clean and fresh. I mainly brought this to go with the Retread Conditioner which is the recommended partner. The scent is not strong at all but does carry a very spring-y/summer-y type feel as it carries with it the papaya essence in it.

Retread (Conditioner)

Image

This conditioner is AMAZING. I’m not even exaggerating. This work so amazingly on my hair, it softens and nurtures my hair SO much and it just does wonders for my hair. For what it lacks in the scent department, it makes it up three-fold in the performance department. This is definitely approaching a 5/5 for me. πŸ™‚

Note: These are all my real opinions haha πŸ™‚ And keep in mind all our hair is different so what may work for me and what I love may not work for you.
Notice that my hair care routine is rather strange (as you can see I have 2 different sets of Shampoo/Conditioner going at the same time). If you would like me to do a post about my hair routine, please just tell me in the comments below.
