Mini-Haul/Review!

Hey guys. Long time no see but I’m back!!! And hopefully I can get my blogging back on track but I’ve just gotten so bogged down with work and procrastinating but here’s a mini-haul/review from me!

NARS Lip-Gloss in “Sweet Revenge”

Image

I absolutely adore this lip gloss that I picked up the other day. I’m completely a lipstick girl because I hate that sticky feeling you get when you wear lipgloss but I don’t have that problem with NARS lip-glosses at all and this is just such a natural-looking flattering color. I love it!

JUST LOOK AT THAT COLOR!

NARS Blush in “Super Orgasm”

Image

I picked up this blush last month and I’ve been wearing it EVERY time I decide to wear makeup and I just adore it. It complements my skintone so well. Definitely my favorite blush ever!

Essie Nail Polish in…

Image

These are the first Essie nail polishes I’ve acquired but I can already say that I love them. They have really good formulation and they don’t streak! The brush size is just right. I love them!

“Not Just a Pretty Face”

Image Image

I have this on right now and I’ll have to say I adore this color!

“Fiji”

“Mint Candy Apple”

So that is all for my haul. I hope you liked it.

HAULER: Bumble and Bumble… Bee?

HEY GUYS! Haha. Today, I went out shopping because it’s thursday and we, Australians, all know what that means: late night shopping. So I went out and grabbed some stuff.

Mainly because I’ve been pretty much cooped up at home for like the past 2 months, I’ve completely used up ALL my LUSH hair care products so I figured it was about time I went out and bought something new and even though I’m still a LUSHmaniac (don’t worry), I like myself some new products so here is what I got from Bumble and Bumble. Hang out for some reviews coming up over the next few weeks!!!

Guest Post: Adding A Pinch of Glamor To Your Life

Hey guys. I know I’ve been a little lost to the world over the past 4 days (I’m sorry! Ahhh!) But I basically finally had a day off to just chill out and not think about work, and all these days of stressful exam preparations that I just didn’t get time. Fear not, however, because today we have a very special post.

Image

Today, we have a guest post from the lucky Jackie from the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance and she’s here to talk about something that moves me deeply. Sadly, unfortunately, some of us at some point may hear, or may have heard, the devastating sentence “you have cancer”. Us women often already struggle with feeling comfortable and beautiful in our own skin. But that should not hinder us from being confident and beautiful. So when Jackie contacted me about making this post, I was delighted and jumped at the thought of such a wonderful idea. So here it is:

Adding A Pinch Of Glamor To Your Life

Image

Women who are undergoing treatment after a cancer diagnosis know all too well that it can be difficult to feel beautiful or glamorous. With trips to chemotherapy clinics or mesothelioma doctors, it can be hard to take time to tend to your appearance or complete those little beauty rituals. However manicures and pedicures are a simple way to add a touch of elegance to your daily life. Keeping your fingers and toenails looking beautiful can be a real confidence booster and give you an extra reason to smile when you look down at your hands or feet. Here are some tips on maintaining confidence through manis and pedis.

Salon vs. Home

Image

The simplest way to maintain your manicure is obviously to visit a salon and leave the work to a professional. However, this can get expensive. Maintain your manicure or pedicure at home with just a few tools. For a basic manicure, invest in a bottle of polish remover, a nail file, a pair of clippers, and one or two polishes that you really love. Top and base coat polishes and cuticle-trimming tools may be helpful, but are not absolutely essential.

Selecting Colors

Image

There are obviously a wide array of nail colors to choose from. If you are currently undergoing cancer treatment, you probably do not have the time or energy for a high-maintenance manicure. Hence, avoid metallic or glittery nail polishes, as they can be difficult to remove and maintain. You may want to select a pale color or neutral French manicure as these colors require the least maintenance.

Minimize Chemicals

Image

Cutting down on the exposure to toxic chemicals during treatment is a good idea. You can minimize your chemical exposure by using natural nail products. The main thing to remember is to invest in an acetone-free nail polish remover. Removing nail polish with an acetone-free remover may take a little longer, but is much safer and healthier in the long run.
Image

Some cancer patients may see their nails as the last things that they ought to be worrying about while undergoing treatment. However, a manicure can be a lovely diversion from the stresses of having cancer. It can even make you feel more confident and beautiful on a daily basis. Don’t feel bad about taking an hour or so a week to treat yourself; enjoy the opportunity to boost your confidence and happiness with this fun beauty ritual.

Again thank you Jackie for guest posting on my blog. If you would like to guest post, feel free to email me at the email in the information bar on the right hand side.

Scent Me!

I think anyone who has seen my room and/or my bathroom cabinet knows about my not so secret obsession with perfume so here are 3 of my favorites. If you want to see any perfume reviews, pop your suggestions down below and I will post one!

I have little out of 5 rating by my lovely friend, Ann, who’s adding a third person perspective to this reviewing.

Freak by Illamasqua

Image

This perfume is DAMN unique. I’ve never smelt anything like it. It has a strange concoction of scents that range from poison hemlock to frankincense. Definitely one of my favorites.

Top notes: Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna.
Heart notes: Poison Hemlock, Datura and Queen of the Night blossom.
Base notes: Frankincense, Oud and Myrrh.

Ann says: 3 out of 5

Black XS by Paco Rabanne for Her

Image

Positively my favorite scent of all time. It has an indescribable allure. Think musky strawberries.

Top notes: cranberry, pink peppercorn and tamarind
Heart notes: hellebore noir rose, black violet and cocoa blossom
Base notes: patchouli, Massoia wood and vanilla

Ann says: 4 out of 5

Burberry Brit for Her

Image

One of my early purchases that I’m still in love with. It has vanilla, amber and tonka bean giving it that depth that I adore.

Top notes: green lemon, frosted pear and white almond
Heart Notes: white peony
Base Notes: vanilla, amber, mahogany and balsamic Tonka bean accords

Ann says: 4.5 out of 5

That is all for today’s post. Tell me what you think. did you like this formating?

Mr Dreamy, For Your Hands

Image

If you’re like me and you’re constantly wearing nail polish because it has become an addiction over the years, you will know how dry your nails get.

If you’re in winter right now, you know how dry your skin gets.

Over the past 2-3 weeks, I’ve had the joy of trying out 2 of LUSH’s amazing products (Lemony Flutter and Tiny Hands) and here’s what I think in about 3 words: they are amazing.

Image

Lemony Flutter is like a moisturizing paste for your dry skin and you can use it anywhere, and I do. I use it as a foot cream, a nail/cuticle cream and a cream on my elbows and knees. I love the thick consistency and it smells quite nice.

Image

Tiny Hands is like a little non exfoliating body butter for your hands. It is just amazing. At first you put it on your hands and it feels like the “oil” doesn’t wash off but you go over to towel off the water and BOOM your hands feel amazing and the “oil” just soaks in immediately.

I mean, honestly, there is nothing worse than the feeling of dry skin and/or looking down to see dry nails and cuticles but these two products have been miraculous. I’ve been using then every single day. I love them both and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who’s battling with dry skin and even then, we always look after our body and our face, but we always forget about our hands!

That is all for today’s post. Tell me what you think of these products if you’ve ever used and what are your holy grail hand products.

See you tomorrow

WHAT! May’s Over!

I can’t believe how FAST this month has past right by. Here are my May Favorites

Image

  • Makeup: Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion: I’ve been wearing this more over this month because it’s drastically easier to take off because it’s not waterproof and it coats my lashes lightly and evenly.
  • Skincare (Face): Origins VitaZing Moisturizer: I’ve honestly never been into wearing things with spf in it because I’m slightly allergic but this one is so good and it just works with me so well. I love the fact that it has a sheer tint release too.
  • Skincare (Body): Happy Hippy Shower Gel: it’s such a refreshing smell and I just love how it works.
  • Hair: Moroccan Oil: there are many reasons why I like this but there are also quite a few against this, but I’ve just been putting it in my ends to make it seem a lot glossier and nicer.
  • Nail: OPI NYC Ballet Collection Care to Danse: I love this lilac color. Even though it is sheer, it don’t go on streaky and is just a really amazing color.
  • Fragrance: Paco Rabanne Black XS: again with this but I got one and a body moisturizer for my bday so I decided to get crackin on it.
  • Fashion: my burgundy jeans: the add some color but it isn’t bright so it’s in keeping with the autumn feel.
  • Accessory: Scarves! It’s getting chilly now so out come the scarves!
  • Book: The Handmaid’s Tale: I’m actually studying this so… I actually haven’t read anything else this month (naughty me).
  • Movie: Not a movie but the Sherlock BBC series. I love it so so SO much. It’s made amazingly well.
  • Youtuber: lilcammo93 it’s nice to find an Australian youtuber
  • Blogger: Extra Petite i love her. 😛

That is all for this month’s favorites.

I hope you enjoyed it.

LUSH Review: 9 to 5 Cleanser

I went to Lush (again) over the weekend and I was given a tub of 9 to 5 cleanser to try and it’s pretty clear to all of us how much I love lush, so I decided to try it.

Image

I’ve used it this whole week and here is my honest opinion about this product. I have not changed any other factors in my skin care routine.

Honestly speaking, I’ve noticed absolutely no change in my skin at all. It’s not particularly bad (no active breakouts right now, SCORE!) but I’m not adoring and raving about this product.

I’m used to Origin’s Checks and Balance cleanser which is just absolutely amazing and lathers like a charm but this one feels as if you’re not even washing your face. It doesn’t lather at all but it just sits on your skin. So when I first used it, I was thoroughly unimpressed.

However, when I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off, my skin actually felt quite nice. I was shocked and a little delighted. So I kept using it. That’s where the downfall lies. This product just isn’t strong enough. It doesn’t create a noticeable effect on my skin.

I know that one week may not be long enough to sense the real “effects” of this product but I know that for me, I would not be purchasing this product in full size. I’ve used a bare few of Lush’s skincare produces for the face and I’ve noticed the general trend that they’re just very weak.

I’m by no means saying that this is an awful product because that would not be true either. I just feel as if it performs the minimal effect on my face and the full size being $AUS 16, I just don’t think it’s worth it for me. People who prefer extremely gentle products like this may enjoy it, but personally, I still prefer my Checks and Balances.

If you’re ever used it and you’ve liked it, please tell me in the comments below.

This post expresses my honest opinion of a product that I sampled for free. I am not paid to do this post but simple feel as if I want to express my feelings about this product.

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow.
