Mr Dreamy, For Your Hands

Image

If you’re like me and you’re constantly wearing nail polish because it has become an addiction over the years, you will know how dry your nails get.

If you’re in winter right now, you know how dry your skin gets.

Over the past 2-3 weeks, I’ve had the joy of trying out 2 of LUSH’s amazing products (Lemony Flutter and Tiny Hands) and here’s what I think in about 3 words: they are amazing.

Image

Lemony Flutter is like a moisturizing paste for your dry skin and you can use it anywhere, and I do. I use it as a foot cream, a nail/cuticle cream and a cream on my elbows and knees. I love the thick consistency and it smells quite nice.

Image

Tiny Hands is like a little non exfoliating body butter for your hands. It is just amazing. At first you put it on your hands and it feels like the “oil” doesn’t wash off but you go over to towel off the water and BOOM your hands feel amazing and the “oil” just soaks in immediately.

I mean, honestly, there is nothing worse than the feeling of dry skin and/or looking down to see dry nails and cuticles but these two products have been miraculous. I’ve been using then every single day. I love them both and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who’s battling with dry skin and even then, we always look after our body and our face, but we always forget about our hands!

That is all for today’s post. Tell me what you think of these products if you’ve ever used and what are your holy grail hand products.

See you tomorrow

Secret To Soft Sexy Skin

See the alliteration there, oh will the english teachers/professors/nerd be so happy about it. But do you know what will make us all happy? If we had soft sexy skin. So many of us think about that and sigh and groan “I’ll never get that” but that’s so wrong (and so negative too tsk tsk :P). All you have to know is one little secret.

Drybrushing.

Image

This amazing invention of god is perfect: it buffs away dead skin leaving the skin much smoother and product absorption just that much better and a closer shave to those ladies who likes to shave their legs. AND as a bonus, as if the amazing effects weren’t amazing enough, it helps to minimise to appearance of cellulite because it increases blood flow. Now, let me just say for a second that you can’t just “get rid of cellulite” just like that (I’m sorry ladies 😦 ) but this will help just make it look better. 🙂

Image

So as to how I use it, well. I do this BEFORE I shower, on DRY skin (ie. DRYbrushing). I start on my lower leg (calf/shin area) and use the brush in upward strokes (toward the heart). I continue up my leg until the top of my leg. Then I go back over it in circular motions to stimulate the blood flow more and obviously I do that for both legs. Then I go onto my arms where I do the same thing: brush strokes towards the heart then circular motions.

Image

Then I move onto my belly and back. On my belly, I work in downwards motions and I genenerally don’t work it in circular motions and I find that this skin is slightly more sensitive. Then I do my back more vigorously (well, technically the same just for a tad longer) because it is hard to reach.  I basically do this everywhere except for on the girls (because that would hurt and the skin there is very sensitive) and definitely NOT on my face (even more sensitive. Besides, I have my Clarisonic for that).

This is basically the most amazing way to achieve that soft skin that we all crave for.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Tell me what you think and what your favorite soft skin strategies are.

See you tomorrow

Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of…. MAY!: April Favorites

AHHH! I can’t believe it’s May already and time for another Monthly Favorite! I’m excited though because that means it’s almost my birthday *little celebratory dance* Anyways. So you know how I have a very structured monthly favorites post? Well I want you to tell me in the comments what you think of this layout in comparison to just chatting about what I liked.

Disclaimer: None of these photos that follow are mine.

Make-up

Image

This month, I’ve just been absolutely addicted to my MAC Bare Study Paint pot. It’s just something I sweep over my lid because it’s just so easy! The color is just so natural but the shimmer in it makes my eyes just look more awake. I adore this shadow.

Skin Care (Face)

Image

I have to say, apart from my Clarisonic which is just amazing, the actual skin care PRODUCT that I’ve been using every day and that has just worked so so well for me is the Origins Checks and Balances Foaming Cleanser. It’s so so gentle and together with my Clarisonic, helps to make my skin just that much better.

Skin Care (Body)

Image

I’ve been using my Body Shop Cactus Brush with my LUSH products pretty much every single day this month (like ever other month) and even though this is not a new edition, I’ve just been noticing how good it is now because as we go into the colder months, my skin just gets so so dry and gross but this is just buffing away that surface layer of dead skin that tends to look horrible in the colder months.

Hair Care

Image

LUSH’s Conditioner called Retread. I didn’t even have to think about that one. My hair’s just been not behaving that the ends become really really frizzy and dry and split ends emerge non-stop (damn the cold weather) so this has just been so so amazing. I literally bought this around the beginning of last month and I’m halfway through it and my small LUSH American Cream Conditioner.

Nail

Image

I recently got 3 new OPI polishes and I’ve had on Penny for Your Thoughts for the past week or so and I’ve been loving it because although it a light coppery-orange color, it looks quite nice and natural on the nails (obviously not that natural but you know what I mean). There are some pink reflects in it that makes it just that little bit prettier. Not bad OPI, not bad at all.

Fragrance

Image

I’ve been wearing my Victoria’s Secret Body Mist in Coconut Passion and I honestly cannot explain how much I love this scent. Oh. My. GOD it smells amazing. Only annoying thing is that it’s a body mist so therefore doesn’t last long at all. But if I wanted anything for my birthday, it would be a Victoria’s Secret fragrance. Eternal love! I honestly had the hardest time deciding which body mist to get.

Fashion

Image

I got this really amazing blazer that just looks amazing because you must know that my style can get rather preppy so I just ADORE blazers, I just honestly have so so many. But I just love this blazer so much and it’s just become my favorite that quickly. (Note: mine is slightly different from the one in this picture).

Accessory

Image

Definitely my Miu Miu handbag. Hands down. I just love it so so much and I use it to go out shopping or if I have a class, every single time. (Note: Mine is in a pale nude pink color rather than this color).

Book

I read Fight Club this month, I’ve never watched the movie but I thoroughly enjoyed the book, yeah 🙂

Movie

Haven’t watched any :S

Youtuber

Other than the usual suspects, I’ve been really really loving Evelina Barry from Evelinicutza (a new discovery this month).

Blogger

I absolutely adore leblogdebetty. Her posts are always really great, I love her fashion sense and even better is that she look so much like my friend Julia.

Thank you so much for reading. Tell me down below in the comments what your favorite things of April were.

Disclaimer: All of these products mentioned were bought by me with my own money. This is not a sponsored post and all opinions expressed in this post is honest and my own.

HOW TO: Find Your Skin-type

Hey guys. Sorry I’ve been a little bit MIA, but hey, I’m not going to sit here and make excuses (I’ve just been so busy). There will be two post today and tomorrow to make up for it because of that. So let’s jump straight into this.

Okay, in the world of skin care, it’s so important to classify your skin so you can “combat” whatever issues that you may have (and even if there is nothing wrong, to maintain its good condition). It makes it so so SO much easier to determine which products to use, and your skincare goal.

So how I’m going to do this is: there will be 5 questions with 4 answers (A, B, C, or D) and then, you can tally up how many of each response you get and then at the end there will be a “most of __ response” means you’re most likely a ___. (Oh yeah, keep in mind that this is in no way a “professional” judgement of your skin type or the be all and end all because some people’s skin can be a more than one skin type so just take this with a pinch of salt). Also keep in mind that the lines/wrinkles point may not apply to younger people but do keep it in mind.

1) How does your skin appear?

A) Cool, fresh and supple
B) Thin, flaky, and lacking moisture
C) Shiny around the T-zone area
D) Shiny all over

2) How do your pores appear?

A) Pretty normal
B) Very fine
C) Visible
D) Quite opened

3) How does your skin feel when touched?

A) Pretty supple: not flaky, not oily
B) A bit dit and flaky
C) A bit oily here and there and a bit dry sometimes
D) Pretty oily

4) Do you have facial lines or wrinkles?

A) Very few
B) Very deep
C) Only expression lines
D) None

5) How often do you get pimples?

A) Seldom
B) Hardly ever
C) Sometimes
D) Often

That is the end of the mini quiz!

If you got:

Mostly As: You are very very lucky. You have “normal” skin. You have an even complexion, pores that are “normal” sized and very few lines/wrinkles. Your skincare goal is to just protect and maintain.

Mostly Bs: You have dry skin. You have very very fine and almost invisible pores, dry and tight skin, cheeks that tend to be flaky and dry and visible lines and wrinkles around your mouth and eyes. Your skincare goal is to hydrate and moisturize, treat and then protect. Make sure you moisturize and exfoliate regularly.

Mostly Cs: You have combination skin. That means you are oily on the t-zone and dry on the cheeks. Basically, your skin is a mixture between dry and oily skin. Your skincare goal is to control shine, minimize dryness and treat and protect. Basically to find a balance! Make sure you cleanse well and moisturize your cheeks/dry-zones

Mostly Ds: You have oily skin. You have an all-over shine and have slightly larger pores. You may be acne-prone. Your skincare goal is to minimize shine, control breakouts, and protect. Make sure you cleanse really well, use a toner and (as weird as it sounds) use a moisturizer (as this will actually help keep your skin from producing the excess oil).

Some other skin types and issues are:

Acne-prone skin: I think this one is rather self-explanatory. It means that you tend to get blemishes, breakouts, white-heads, and blackheads. If you are acne prone, don’t you worry. There are so so so so SO many people out there just like you (for example, ME!). If you’re interested in checking out my skincare routine and how I try and manage it, check here!

Sensitive Skin: This means you have thin delicate skin that flushes easily. You may be prone to broken capillaries and rashes (or peeling skin). You may frequently get allergic reactions to cosmetic products. This is also a really really common issue and a lot of people have this to some extent. Don’t even worry. Just try and use slightly more natural products, less chemicals and research products before getting them.

I hope this post helped. What is your skin type? How do you work with it and has it changes throughout your life? Tell me down below!

Disclaimer: I am not a dermatologist by any means and see my little disclaimer above (just before the 5 questions).

Thank you so so much of reading. See you in my next post.

Can I Hide Behind My Hair Forever?

Hey guys. So today’s post is going to be slightly different than usual in that it’s not a review on a specific product at all, it’s not a “routine” post, or a tutorial. I’ll be talking about my experiences with my skin. And trust me, they’re not very good experiences overall.

Some of my skin background: I had really amazing skin (as all kids do) up until I was around 10 years old. Then I hit puberty and my skin was like a complete hell hole. I suffer from quite bad acne and I used to break out very very badly all the time. It just never stopped, when one patch got better, another sprung up and it was absolutely horrific. It was mainly concentrated on my forehead: all across it, but sometimes it goes near my mouth and nose.

I was literally horrified! What was happening to me? I mean, all the stories I’ve ever heard did not prepare me for this. I mean I remember that all through 5th and 6th grade and then early high school, I just got these really nasty comments from (let’s be frank here) b*tches at my school and honestly, I felt as if I’ve tried everything. But I’ve now realised that it’s distinctly hormonal acne. Now that I’m past that awful stage of just early puberty and early adolescence and stuff, my skin is starting to get better. But I still break out really badly about once a month (we all know when that is) and then just some spots here and there during the middle of my cycle.

Some of the products I’ve used (not all because I don’t remember them all):

– Proactive: Now proactive was so hyped up for so many years and as soon as it up there, my mom went out and bought it for me. I used it so much for, I think, a year and it was working okay. I didn’t really solve many problems but it was better than nothing but after a while, it just stopped doing it for me and I just stopped using it.

– For about a year I just jumped from product to product but some I clearly remember is: Clearasil Deep Cleansing Scrub, Clean and Clear Acne cleanser and Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer

– I use the infamous Clinque set for about 6 months and then I just didn’t feel as if anything was happening so that stopped too.

– Most recently I used Origins. Now I’m in love with this brand. It’s amazing and has had amazing effects on my skin but the lady at the counter kept pushing this one skin care set after I went back after success with their masks and Spot Removal serum (review for another time) and I absolutely HATE that set. It was awful. I used it for 4 months (since late Dec last year) and I’m just so over it.

So I’m looking to try something new. Maybe a mixture of things. Things that I love are the Clinique set (which I’ve gone back to), the Origins mask set and spot removal cream.

A huge problem of mine is that nothing ever seems to eliminate my issue completely so I just give up on things after an extended period of time because I feel as if it’s not fixing my problem. I also want to avoid too much chemical on my face so that rules out a lot of things. I also have an issue with hyperpigmentation now because a lot of places that had repeat spotting hare quite harsh scars.

So basically what I’m trying to say is that those who suffer from acne, you’re definitely now alone. And after god knows how many years, I still suffer from hormonal acne but it does get better. Gradually. I think. And please leave down in the comments any products that you’ve used and have found helpful.

Tag Again!: 10 Little Secrets

Hey guys! I know, another tag! I’m sorry but I’ve been so busy these past few days, especially with just getting back from my vacation so yeah. I’ll hopefully be back into the swing of things tomorrow 🙂

1. What is one product that makes you feel like a million dollars?

Mascara, mascara, mascara!!! I absolutely love it. Because my eyes aren’t very big and tend to be a little droopy if I don’t “lift” it with something, I love to wear mascara. It just makes me looks so much more awake and just improves my confidence by so so much. I can wear no makeup but mascara and I won’t feel naked!

Right now I’m using: Bad Girl Mascara by Benefit

2. What is your skincare secret? / A passed down skin care tip

Oh god, I am NOT someone to be passing down skin care tips, God just look at my skin! But my mom tells me this AGAIN AND AGAIN: after washing your face with a cleanser or whatever you use, make sure to use a toner, especially at night, to remove any excess grease or dirt from the day. You don’t that lingering on your face overnight!

3. Share your hair care secret?

Conditioner!!! Need I say more?!

4. What is your biggest diet rule?

On my little list of posts to do, this one was actually planned for tomorrow because I’ve been on a “get healthy” diet since february this year, and it’s been working out for me so amazingly. So basically, a few quick tips before tomorrow:

– Don’t go on a calorie restriction or fad diet. Those don’t work out because they don’t last and you’ll lose the pounds but then gain them right back. And they’re so bad for you.

– Everyone’s heard this before: DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST!

– and most importantly, I’ve found this to be a really helpful tip. You know when you see something, and you’re not really hungry but you see it and crave it and you just have to eat it. Well, don’t give in straight away. Like if you just had lunch half an hour ago and you’re not that hungry and you know you shouldn’t eat that choc-chip muffin sitting there but you want it. Take a deep breath and walk turn away. Distract yourself. BUT! If you still want it 5-10 minutes later, then buy it and eat it and be done with it! The worst idea is to restrict yourself because when you turn away from the craving then you’re more likely to make a “mistake”and binge/eat something unhealthy at your next meal.

5. Any workout tips?

Have a sustainable schedule. Workout for 30-60 minutes. And do it consistently. Maybe do it with a friend or do a class, that way you can’t talk yourself out of it because you’re being lazy!

6. Which perfume is your secret weapon?

This one is so so hard because I absolutely ADORE perfume! My best friend and I have this thing where for Christmas every single year, we’d get each other perfume. Every year! Haha. But I have to say I adore the Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet for a spring/summer day, the Black XS by Paco Rabanne  for spring/summer evening, Freak by Illamasqua for winter. But sometimes I like to just wear a body spray (Coconut Passion Body Mist by Victoria’s Secret) and I’ve gotten so many compliments on this. I go to hug a friend or whatever and they’re like “oh my god! you smell amazing! what is that?” and this has been more than one person. And guys LOVE this smell because it’s so subtle and you just smell like cookies or something. Its amazing!

7. Show us a clothing item of yours which always turns heads

I don’t have one clothing item but I love off the shoulder tops. They’re not revealing in that you don’t see the chest area or whatever but they’re really sexy in that you see some skin but not enough to seem like you’re showing too much, you know.

8. What is your most treasured piece of jewellery?

I have a ring that my mother got for me for christmas I think 2 yrs ago now. And its this Tiffany & Co. Hearts ring and I just love it to bits!

My mother and I actually have a thing where she gets me a really really lovely piece of jewellery once and year and I really treasure them and I just wear them all the time. Like last year, for my birthday she got me a tiny emerald necklace from Hardy Brothers Jewellers and I’ve basically worn it every day since.

9. Who is your style crush?

I don’t have one person who I just copy and paste off but one of my friends who like so artsy and she does art and textiles and stuff, she’s really inspirational. I love watching people on youtube and I get ideas there. Bloggers as well like Passions for Fashion, Cheyenne meets Chanel, Le Blog de Betty etc. They’re all real people with amazing fashion sense! I also look up to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Nicole Richie. 🙂

10. Tell us something we don’t know about you

Hmm… I don’t know actually… Although I’m an extremely extroverted person and I love people and I make friends really easily, I often become close friends with people who aren’t “good” for me and therefore a lot of my friendships don’t last. But I love to meet new people and I’m always open to hear people out.

So that is all for this tag. Thank you for reading.
