Bikinis Just For You

The summer has come for those of us in the northern hemisphere so here is a guide to the perfect swimsuit for you.

If you’re not as embellished in the top:

Image

Try ruffles and fringes and embellishments because they will create the optical illusion of more volume up there.

Go for the obvious padding.

Try the triangle tops because they draw attention to that area.

Horizontal stripes will make it appear as if your are better adorned.

If you’re back end is bigger:

Image

Try for some bottoms with rings to keep them on your hips, hiding that extra you have.

Boy shorts will ward off any potential wedgies and will still show you off.

Try for a deeper neckline to draw attention upwards.

Go for a darker colored bottoms to slim you down and avoid small patterns on the bottom to avoid any extra attention that widen your hips.

If you’re rather busty:

Image

The v-neck will be very flattering, drawing the nice amount of attention chest-ward while elongating your figure and minimising the fullness.

Go for a thick halter neck as it will flatter and secure them.

If you’re well adorned, underwires are your new best friend, do not forget about them

Try one with a wide supportive band. For your busty girls, support is the most important thing!

So that is all for this post. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

See you tomorrow

WHAT! May’s Over!

I can’t believe how FAST this month has past right by. Here are my May Favorites

Image

  • Makeup: Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion: I’ve been wearing this more over this month because it’s drastically easier to take off because it’s not waterproof and it coats my lashes lightly and evenly.
  • Skincare (Face): Origins VitaZing Moisturizer: I’ve honestly never been into wearing things with spf in it because I’m slightly allergic but this one is so good and it just works with me so well. I love the fact that it has a sheer tint release too.
  • Skincare (Body): Happy Hippy Shower Gel: it’s such a refreshing smell and I just love how it works.
  • Hair: Moroccan Oil: there are many reasons why I like this but there are also quite a few against this, but I’ve just been putting it in my ends to make it seem a lot glossier and nicer.
  • Nail: OPI NYC Ballet Collection Care to Danse: I love this lilac color. Even though it is sheer, it don’t go on streaky and is just a really amazing color.
  • Fragrance: Paco Rabanne Black XS: again with this but I got one and a body moisturizer for my bday so I decided to get crackin on it.
  • Fashion: my burgundy jeans: the add some color but it isn’t bright so it’s in keeping with the autumn feel.
  • Accessory: Scarves! It’s getting chilly now so out come the scarves!
  • Book: The Handmaid’s Tale: I’m actually studying this so… I actually haven’t read anything else this month (naughty me).
  • Movie: Not a movie but the Sherlock BBC series. I love it so so SO much. It’s made amazingly well.
  • Youtuber: lilcammo93 it’s nice to find an Australian youtuber
  • Blogger: Extra Petite i love her. 😛

That is all for this month’s favorites.

OOTD: Summer to Fall

Today’s outfit it an easy representation of how to take spring/summer pieces to fall/winter.

Image

Let me break it down for you

Image

A wine burgundy colored circle scarf from an art house label Exception de Mixmind by Ma Ke.  It came with a chunky knit jumper.

Image

A tannish-grey Ralph Lauren cardigan a pattern on the cuff and on the bottom hem.

Image

Jewellery details: watch, 2 bead bracelets and my ring: this is rather standard for me

Image

Anatomy of the outfit: a Max & Co basics navy blue tank top with some rouching in the front area and the skirt.

Image

That is the completed look (not in photo is my black opaque tights and brown leather riding style boots from Max & Co

The skirt is from the H&M “divided” range. I think they had a collection of these going with a shirt and dress in this print too. I adore this dress. It’s so cute and versatile. I bought this in the summer months but because the fabric is a little heavier cotton than your regular summer skirt, it is really easy to wear it in the wintertime. I love the tulip shape of it too as it slims me down. An added bonus is its pockets!

What do you think about this outfit? Tell me in the comments below!

Note: pretty all the items in this outfit are bought at sale time (honestly, not that rich 😛 ) therefore impossible to find them online right now 😛

That is all for this post

Pops Of Color: Yellow Time

I thought I might just start a new series called “Pops of Color” where I style certain colored items. Tell me what you think and give some color requests down below!

Image

Yellow is a really hard color to pair with, it’s so vibrant and will just scream for attention but no fear, my favorite pair is here: blue and yellow. It is honestly one of my favorite color combinations and you can try the yellow pants and the blue top or the other way around. Complementary colors right? Always trust the color wheel.

Yellow is also so easily paired with brown and tan (analogous colors with yellow). I personally recommend taking these browns and tans into the accessories. Brown leather sandals and wedges, leopard print flats, cute brown leather bracelet are all amazing pairs with your perfect yellow pants. For more fun colors, turquoise can add just that dash of fun into the situation.

That is all for today’s “Pop’s of Color”. I think I may make this a weekly segment? I don’t know. Tell me what you think.

Accessorize: 10 Accessory Must Haves

Hey guys. And today I’m back this the 10 must haves of accessories. I hope you enjoy. 😛 Accessories are so important in any wardrobe!

Image

  1. Pumps: These are so important in pulling off a formal look and honestly a pair of good pumps will do you much good!
  2. Wedges: For the more comfortable alternative that will look amazing, feel amazing and increase your height. These are good for a range of occasions. Gotta love them.
  3. Boots: In the colder months, this is what you need. A good pair of boots. I can’t live without them.
  4. Flats: The best shoe choice for the comfortable minded. They can also look very cute with a range of outfits. Also one of my favorites.
  5. Printed Scarf: Because I tend to be rather plain (color and print wise) in my clothes, I like to have accessories that pop out, make it special. That’s exactly what a good scarf would do. Whether it be animal print or floral, polka dot or stripe, it will pull an outfit together so well.
  6. Thick Belt: I love my belts, especially with my body shape, they’re essential. The thick belts pull in a thiner and more feminine figure. It’s perfect for tying your layers together.
  7. Thin Belt: Another important piece (it’s obvious that I love my belts, trust me). A skinny belt adds texture and definition. And it can prevent the potato sack look (unattractive :S).
  8. Stud Earrings: This is the most basic jewellery piece that can honestly go with everything. Maybe have on hand a silver pair and a gold pair to better match with gold. Many shops like H&M will stock sets with multiple colors that you may want to check out. (Obviously, this mainly applies to those of us with piercings but clip ons are an option).
  9. Statement Jewellery Piece: Own one statement jewellery piece that is versatile. Be that some arm candy or a necklace or even a pair of earrings, a statement piece is sometimes necessary to make a simple outfit.
  10. Tote Bag: The best thing to rely on. It’s just so perfect because it’s so versatile and all purpose. Another one of those things that are just the best investment.

That is the end of this post 🙂 I hope you enjoyed! Tell me in the comments below what your accessory must haves are. I’d be really curious to know!

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow.

Protect Your Eyes This Spring/Summer With the RIGHT Sunglasses

It’s hard to know exactly sunglasses are suitable for your face shape and the hottest accessory for the spring/summer season is always the sunglasses so I hope this post will help you decide. There are 6 basic face shapes: oval, oblong, round, square, and heart, and it may be very difficult to place yourself into one specific category and that’s completely normal. So lets just delve right into it.

Note: the photos used in this post are not mind and I did not create them.

OVAL

Image

You typically have very balanced proportions and your chin tends to be narrower than your forehead and you may have high cheekbones.

If you have an oval face, you’re very lucky. You’ve got the most versatile face shape. You can where any type of sunglasses but softer angular shapes will play up an oval face.

OBLONG

Image

You typically have a longer face with narrower cheekbones and chin. You may have a larger nose and a taller forehead.

If you have an oblong face, you want to counteract the fact that your face is longer than it is wide by avoiding narrow frames and frames with embellished tops. Rather, go for the oversized or wrap ones.

ROUND

Image

You typically have fuller cheekbones with a narrow forehead and jawline. Width and length are basically the same.

If you have a round face, you want to make your cheekbones seem more in line with the rest of your face. Avoid rounded frames as this will accentuate the roundness of your face. Try wide and rectangular frames.

SQUARE

Image

You typically have a broad forehead and a square jawline. Your face is generally more angular.

If you have a square face, you are wanting to counteract the angularity by adding curves. Thus, avoid shades with geometric shapes and a rectangular frame. Rather, go for round, oval or cat-eye frames.

HEART

Image

You typically have a wider forehead and cheekbones but a narrower chin. Your face kinda looks like a heart. 🙂

If you have a heart-shaped face, you are wanting to counteract the wider top part. Avoid heavily embellished frames but opt for cat-eyes or round frames instead.

The Miracle Pair

Image

Butterfly flames like the ones above are flattering on all face shapes. You can’t go wrong with them.

That brings me to the end of my post. Tell me what your face shape is and what are you favorite shades! I want to know. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed it. See you tomorrow.

Inspiration: Fashion Missions PART 1!!!

It’s Monday and you have an early morning class. Uh. As if you can be bothered to work up a glamorous outfit right? I mean Mondays are meant to be for getting over your weekend madnesses and the warm-up day before the read week of fashion begins.

So start with sometimes easy, student-like and chic:

Image

Read: comfortable navy scarf, any plain grey v-neck t-shirt, a nice deep red drape/waterfall cardigan, your favorite blue jeans, a pair of boots (if it’s chilly) and some nice uber simple accessories.

Phew! Monday went by without a single problem. Not one fashion disaster. But it’s time for the Tuesday. Tuesday’s time to have fun. You don’t know what cute man candy you could be running into today 😉 Give yourself two options, a day wear one that you can easily transform for the night.

Image

The bright colors are perfect for a fresh daytime look: nice and feminine.
Read: a nice white blouse is always great in the daytime but also so versatile. the cute A-line skirt will make your waist seems smaller and your legs longer and thinner, the cute accessories are perfect for the more casual daytime feel. Wear some nice espadrilles or wedges for the daytime. If you’re going out in the evening, just pop on some nice tights, a pair of pumps and a black jacket (in this case, another cardigan).

Wednesday is said to be the worst day but don’t let this drag down your fashion! I’m thinking something totally in contrast to Tuesday. Monochrome! As much as it doesn’t get the YELLs that other trends do, you should definitely not underestimate the power of a monochrome outfit. It looks chic and pulled together effortlessly.

Image

Read: The most comfortable pants you own, an extremely cool printed top, a nice pump AND an amazing blazer. Pair this outfit with the perfect bag and you’re set. What more do I need to say?

So that is all for my FASHION MISSION Part 1. Tune in tomorrow for Part 2 where I’ll be finishing the mission with some amazing party and date outfits. Make sure you don’t miss it by following ParisienLight.

Tell me in the comments below which one is your favorite outfit.

Thank you so so much for reading. I hope you liked this post. See you tomorrow.

Fashionista’s Items for Autumn/Winter

Hey guys! I know my last post was about mint jeans (a largely spring/summer 2012 trend) but for those like me who live in the southern hemisphere, we’re wondering about the autumn/winter fashion. Well, since the “fashion trends” aren’t that strong out here, a lot of more classical things are “in”. But as we still have 4 to 5 months left of autumn/winter, I thought now is the perfect time to impart MY loves for autumn/winter to you guys (I’ve had some time to warm up into autumn/winter fashion, awful pun intended).

I hope you like this post because I actually put a lot of effort into this post haha so yeah. If you have any questions or post suggestions, just pop them in the comments section below. 🙂

Now, keep in mind that I’ve just chosen my favorite trends and things that I like to wear in my everyday life, and your fashion sense may be drastically different from mine and that’s 100% okay but do keep that in mind when reading this post because a girl (or guy) has to stick to her (or his) own style, right? Right.

Right now everything is about the CLASH. The color clash, the pattern clash, and  the fabric clash. They’re all so perfect for the Autumn/Winter time because guess what, you can LAYER! Haha, making these clash-happy trends very easy and suitable.

Fun Colors for Autumn/Winter:

We’re all familiar with the dull, gloomy (and ultimately unexciting) colors of the autumn/winter time and for some weird reason, we all naturally gravitate towards the navy, the grey, the black, the brown… and there is nothing wrong with that because I adore these darker colors (you can’t pull them off as well in spring/summer right?) but too much of these dark colors may just put me into some seasonal affective disorder (very aptly abbv. to SAD haha) so I love love LOVE adding just that POP of color into my outfit. A red scarf, a pink shirt, some cobalt blue, just to spice up the outfit. Autumn and winter is all about the dulls? Not necessarily, right? Some outfits that I just LOVE to wear in the winter time:

Image

20s are Back!

Something that is definitely coming back in is the 20s style (something that I’m just such a fan of). It’s all about the clean cuts, the preppy looks and the fabrics. We’re seeing a lot of felt and tweed, commonly loved fabrics. Patterns such as checks and herringbone are definitely some of the classics that are no longer just for “old people”. And trust me, I definitely borrow this trend in my LOVE for blazers with heavier fabrics and more classical designs. Say hello to the Ralph Lauren look.

With that said, this trend can be seen very strongly in the accessories that are hitting the market. Very structured leather satchels are definitely to love in this season. I mean, how do you not love a good leather satchel to go with your nice blazer.

Of course, this trend goes hand in hand with the androgyny look. The slim silhouette of the 20s look acquires volume with the modern-shaped tops and blazers with masculine over-sizing. Something to look out for: wool coats with zipper and pocket details and/or decorative linings, fur-lined parka-shapes and short wool skirts. Again, minimalist meets elegance.

This is how I like to wear this trend:

Image

Now my favorite.

The Knitwear.

What is autumn/winter fashion without Knitwear, so I’ve decided to not only dedicate a whole section of the post to Knitwear but also capitalize it, because, why not? Knitwear is honestly the most perfect way to express any trend you want with such a variety of Knit on the market. Finer knits are perfect for the expression of the 60s geometric shapes that are just so in right now, the color issue that I mentioned above and the fabric clash that I will elaborate on. Honestly, fine Knit can just bring the simplist but most elegant silhouette-ing technique that is out there. I mean, hello, it hugs your shape! Of course, we’ve definitely can NOT forget about the chunky/coarse knits that we’re seeing everywhere (runway, sure, but even more often on the fashion blogs). We see the never outdated cable knit structures and the coarse peasant patterns, traditionaly sock patterns and amazing patchwork ideas. Needless to say, I love my Knits.

Finer knits are great to express your personality. We see so many combinations out there. If you like to be simple, elegant and understated, the most perfect thing is that khaki (because army green is definitely in) turtleneck finely knit sweater with some nice trousers and a blazer. If you like to be loud and fun (somewhat more my style), you just simply MUST check out the patterned sweaters and sweater dresses. Look at those zigzag sweaters or that navel showing orange and purple sweater dress and what about that really strange I-can’t-describe sweater dress (below).

Image

But again, these fine knits make perfect fabric layering device. The fabric clash is definitely in right now. Thinking wool and satin? Wool and velvet? Hell, satin and velvet? So try popping on a nice silk shirt underneath that fine Knit. How about a tweed blazer over the top? How about a chunky knit infinity scarf with it? Look at these options!

Image

And finally making friends with the chunky knits. You can honestly pair them with anything. Put them over a dress. Put them over pvc or leather pants (if you like those, *shiver* I definitely don’t). The look amazing over skinny jeans/pants. Over a velvet A-line skirt. How about some patterned pants? Honestly speaking, there are few things that chunky knits don’t work with. They’re definitely up there (around the Little Black Dress mark) in terms of volatility!

ImageImageImage

And last but not least:

RAZZLE DAZZLE ‘EM!

Accessories! For autumn/winter, my accessories creativity does go down a wee bit because I always go for the classics because I love them so much. By the “classics”, I’m talking about the BOOTS, and the scarves, and the handbags, and the — But hey, they’re essential items. To make boots more “now-trending”, look for the lace-up boots, the boots with fur detail, and the boho slouch leather boot. Feeling adventurous? How about the suede in the pastels and strong colors, and the block heel? Okay, I guess block heel isn’t considered adventurous but for those of you who like flat heeled boots or where-do-your-legs-end stillettos, maybe it is a venture (a very worthwhile one, mind you). Some of you may like to know that the worker/combat/urban boot and the riding is still in (and I predict it’d be in for quite some time yet, a valuable investment).

On your scarves, search for jemed/jewelled detailing, (again) furriness, and a very very big size. Now for the bags, the velvet fabric is a love, so is the fur (faux-fur please O.O), and so is the exotic fabrics like reptile and ostrich and the such (don’t worry, they DEFINITELY do not have to be real). The satchel is a definite love and the bags with the college look is also to be adored. Boxy clutches and those saddle/weekend bags are definitely also a love.

Image

So that is it for this post. I know that this was a VERY VERY VERY long post, but I worked really hard on it so I hope you like it. Those of you in the northern hemisphere will not miss out because I will be doing a similar post on Spring/Summer trends very soon.

Before then… Thank you very much for reading this post. I honestly hoped you liked it and hope it helped. See you tomorrow.
